"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."
Jeremiah 29:11
I've come to the realization that there are things you know, and then there are things you are certain of. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I know a lot, as do most people. But what are you certain of?
I'm not generally sure of much: what I want to eat for any given meal, what I want to do, where I want to live etc., but I have stumbled into a few things in my life that have made me 100% certain.
In true compulsive list-making form, here they are, since I know you were dying to know. :]
My Manifesto, if you will:
1) The God of the universe and Lord of my life has a very unique and specific plan for me, even when I take matters into my own hands and insist I know best. Jeremiah 29:11 is my chosen verse for 2012, and so far, it's been right on the money. I'm attempting to step outside of my fears of my future and trust that His plans are to prosper me and not to harm me.
2) I have just about the best parents (and family) a gal could ask for, seriously. I know you probably think yours are the best, but I'm sorry to inform you that you're misinformed. We've had our share of ups and downs as anyone who had to raise/live with a painfully stubborn, brutally honest, curly-headed freak like myself would, but I mean it when I say that through thick and thin, they're my biggest fans. And I don't care how tough and independent a gal can seem on the outside, it sure does make a heck of a difference when you know you have some of the fiercest advocates in the world in your corner.
3) My friends are the best bunch of characters I could ever dream of. Lord knows we all came from different places, but the past four years of my life would have been found lacking without them. They keep my sane, and a lil crazy from time to time, but I know that they'd drive through the rain in the middle of the night to let me cry on their shoulder, and that is why we are, and will always be, so freakishly linked.
4) This economy and job market is utterly dreadful, and it's severely putting a cramp in my life.
5) I love magazines, bookstores, and print media of any kind more than most people love candy.
6) I simultaneously drink too much (to other people) and not enough (to me) coffee on a regular basis.
7) I'm one of those people who needs freakish amounts of sleep in a fluffy, cold bed to function in any capacity decently.
8) While I've come to terms with the fact that I'll never be famous, I will never stop obsessively hoarding DVDs or subconsciously speaking in movie quotes/song lyrics.
10) As fashion forward as I attempt to be, comfort will always, always, always trump glamour.
