Oscars Obsessed

I (along with millions of other Americans) watched the oh-so-long telecast of the 85th Annual Academy Awards last night. And like many, many other females (and some males) that watched, I have a few opinions about the coveted fashion of the evening.

 Favorite Couples of the Evening:
{Ben and Jen... loved them all awards season. presh pots}

{Channing + Jenna + bambino on the way = adorable}

{Justin and Jen knocking to cuteness factor out of the park (step aside Brad and Angie)}

Favorite Looks:
 {Amy Adams...gorgeous head to toe}

 {Reese Witherspoon = retro perfection}

 {Jennifer Lawrence... she took a shot before the carpet.. need I say more?}

{Salma Hayek is maybe my most favorite look of the evening}

{Naomi Watts can do no wrong}

{the sequin divas of which I'm partial to Adele and Kristin}

Last, and sadly least, my Least Favorites/Underwhelmed:

 {Anne Hathaway... why? just why?}

 {Melissa McCarthy, You're hi.lar.ious. but... not your most flattering ensemble}

Who were your favorite hits and misses??

Questionnaire Friday

In response to one of my favorite bloggers (who also gets distracted by such posts) I'm answering the questionnaire she passed along from The Pursuit of Style blog.

Inslee's answers (for those too lazy to click here and see for yourself) are:
Talent I wish I had: The ability to enjoy seafood
Best Gift I Ever Received: In the 1st grade I had the market cornered on pretty ballet flats with bows on them from Jacadi and all I wanted was a pair of white cowboy boots from Kmart. My mother’s classic taste and good judgement told her she could never buy me these boots and live with herself. I begged for weeks, but she knew it would set a dangerous precedent, one that could ultimately lead to me having a lower back tattoo. Not wanting to completely crush my dreams, she did help me bake brownies and allow me to sell them at my dad’s office to earn the money for the boots myself. I learned years later that my dad bought all the brownies. So thank you to my parents for the gift of the entrepreneurial spirit. They taught me that this will allow you to make your own choices, carve your own path and have the freedom to make your own sartorial decisions with the financial independence to act on them. (are you hearing Destiny’s Child?)
most memorable stamp on your passport: Zermatt, Switzerland.
Something I am excited about: The arrival of my new bedding from Serena & Lily. And, just for the record, I am always, always excited about croissants
Favorite Restaurant: You really can’t play this game in NYC. It’s too overwhelming. So I’m going to a throw back, Tuscarora Mill in Leesburg, Virginia. My first favorite restaurant love.
Camo Pants: do or don't: Never in a million years

Lindsay's answers from The Pursuit of Style blog are:
Talent you wish you had: Beautiful handwriting
Best gift you’ve ever received: I’ve only come to appreciate this as a gift recently, and it’s sappy, but my education. Thanks Mom and Dad! I should also give a ton of credit to my boyfriend for killing it this Valentine’s Day with a totally unexpected scavenger hunt. The treasure? A stack of Domino magazines I was missing from my collection and plane tickets for an upcoming trip. So sweet I cried!
Most memorable stamp in your passport: Spain
Something you’re excited about: I haven’t told you guys yet, but The Pursuit of Style is getting a makeover! Hanna has worked her magic for me again and I’m so so excited to launch the new look. Fingers crossed you love it as much as I do!
Favorite restaurant (share the city too so we can visit!): The Cape Sea Grille, Harwich Port, MA
Camo Pants: Do or Don’t?: I really want to be able to pull these off but I’m not sure I’m cool enough, ha!

without further adieu, my answers:
Talent you wish you had: singing well and/or dancing (think Memphis pom team)

Best gift you’ve ever received:
I'll second Lindsay with my education but go a step farther and also say my leopard bath robe given to me by my TNB's... because only they understand the importance of a fabulous leopard ensemble to get ready in

Most memorable stamp in your passport:
considering they don't do this anymore (much to my dismay) and the fact that I've only ever been out of the country on my SB cruise last year I vote Cozumel, Mexico. Because nothing tops magic yellow bracelets, double-fisting dirty bananas and nearly getting left in a foreign country

Something you’re excited about:
The summer, the future, and this weekend. The past year has been full of amazing change and I can't wait to see what's next.

Favorite restaurant (share the city too so we can visit!):
This one's a toughy but I'll go with Jim's Place Grille and Sakura sushi in Memphis, Tennessee.

Camo Pants: Do or Don’t?:
now I vote no, but there was a time in my not so distant past (cough sophomore year) where I rocked a thrift store pair originally purchased for sigma nu white trash bash like it was my job
 Your turn.

Mo Betta in Mobile

A promise is a promise, and I snapped a few photos to commemorate my very first Mardi Gras experience in Mobile, Alabama. (the post title comes from a fabulously tacky shirt I purchased for the occasion that reads, "Mardi Gras is Mo Betta in Mobile")

 {Mardi Gras man dancing his way through the Floral Parade Saturday}

{JT gettin' in character and picking up loot for the floats}

{me and the bebes getting the MOT [Mystics of Time] floats ready for Saturday night}

{beads on beads on beads}

{Saturday Floral Parade where the kiddies throw out loot}

 {Me and JT at the Floral Parade}

 {Saturday night madness that is the MOT parade}

 {after parade = time to party at the ball}

 {JT's sister-in-law and me before the ball}

 {picture doesn't do it justice. biggest party I've ever seen. complete with 3 dance floors}

 {closing out the weekend in style at the Mystics of Time ball}

Proving Mardi Gras really is mo betta in Mobile.

Mardi Gras: Mobile Style

It's official. My bag is packed, my dress is purchased, and I'm counting down the hours until I head South to celebrate Mardi Gras for the first time in Mobile, Alabama. I'm so stinking excited for the parades, floats, and masks, not to mention the ball on Saturday night. every girl's fairy tale, right?

Excuse me for a few days while I'm reveling in the festivities and all that Mobile has to offer. I'll post a full report upon my return.

Perfect Pairing

Some might argue me on this one, but I find this to be the cutest thing since colored post-it notes. My favorite East coast socialite has paired off with everyone's favorite West coast gamer for what proves to be a real-life Summer/Seth story. (ahem, socialites of the upper east side don't date gamers unless it's on The O.C, or in this case... real life).

My adoration of both Blair's bitchy nature and Seth's witty banter makes this the perfect Hollywood pairing (except of course for Seth and Summer and Chuck and Blair).

It's All Greek to Me

I can hardly contain my excitement as I write this post because today is the day. Finally, a beloved Birmingham restaurant has migrated northwest and set up shop right here in the Bluff city.
(Now, if only Chuy's, Mugshots, CPK, O'Carr's and Maki would follow suit I'd be the fattest, happiest camper in the city.)

In honor of this occasion, I'm getting Friday special this weekend...because I can.

Congrats!

Just taking a second to congratulate Morgan Cox
on his first Super Bowl win last night!

As one of the few guys that let my dad "adopt" him as a son he never had (don't let the last name fool you, we aren't actually family), it was freakishly exciting to watch him as an ECS Eagle, a Tennessee Vol and now as a Baltimore Raven
CONGRATS!

Truckin' Along

As a contributor for Deep South Magazine, and a freakish lover of food, I'm delighted to share with you the "47 Best Food Trucks in the South," of which I compiled the featured trucks in Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida. What's your favorite food truck?

{a personal Memphis fav that didn't make the list--Central BBQ food tuck}
