As it is election day (gasp) it made me think of what I remember doing four years ago on this very day (election day):

I was a mere 2 months into my college career, the first time I'd voted in an election, and I was sitting in room 611(Yes, Vail has 6 floors. No it doesn't have an elevator. Yes, Catherine Butler and I found a crawl space, and yes, we left a note for those who lived in our room after us) of Vail at Sammy U. I was sitting on Butler's bed because it was closer to our tiny TV, and Catharyn Gronefeld was straightening my hair for fun.

There we sat for hours watching various new stations report various statistics and info all the while just taming the beast this is my curly head of hair. Somewhere around 8 p.m. Gronfeld declared (among other things) that it [all of the media hoopla] was all for show and that McCain would surely win. A few hours later we watched as Obama won and walked out on stage to make his speech. Then, I remember watching as news stations played peoples reactions to the decision. (No matter who you vote for you should think this is funny... and I apologize in advance if you don't): A woman was interviewed and responded saying something along the lines of, "I'm glad Obama won because he's gonna buy me a brand new car."

And that (along with thinking that the next time I voted I'd be a college graduate) ladies and gents is what I remember about four years ago on election day.

To continue on my thanksgiving theme: Day 6- I'm thankful that I live in America. One nation, under God. The land of the free because of the brave. No matter who you cast you ballot for today and no matter who wins, when I wake up tomorrow I know that God reigns supreme.

What do you remember about elections past?
